The 2007 WPC (I’m not speaking about the World Powerlifting Congress here.) kicked off yesterday in Cannes, France. Despite the fact that nothing is happening here these days (by the way, has anyone seen or heard from Katie lately?), there are more visitors to the blog this week, maybe thanks to Perfumer & Flavorist magazine. For those who are attending the event, there’s not much here for your noses to feast on, but here’s something for your eyes.

Hee! I’ve seen Katie around the interwebs but I know with graduation season she’s been a busy lady! A great smelling busy lady, but still. 😉

What a nice mention of the site! Congrats.

    Thanks StickyKeys.

What am I not seeing there? Are you mentioned somewhere? I can’t find it!! But I liked this:
“Ferdinand Storp insisted that consumer testing kills creativity and wondered aloud why perfumers aren’t as famous as chefs. Why aren’t there any shows on TV about perfumers?” Exactly, why aren’t they? I have the idea all ready for them:
    Project Perfume
    Bravo, are you listening? 😀

    “consumer testing kills creativity”
    – This has been said so many times already, and many in the industry agree. However, when the clients don’t care about creativity and want as much assurance as possible what else could be done? It’s a human nature, and this is not going to change easily.

“why perfumers aren’t as famous as chefs”
    – Most people know what a chef is but don’t know what a perfumer is.

“Why aren’t there any shows on TV about perfumers?”
    – I don’t think the world is ready for celebrity perfumers yet.
