Designed by the mexican firm bgp arquitectura, ‘Casa MTY’ is a house located in the forest of San Pedro Garza García, a city in north part of Mexico. The partially-wooded area has recently been developed in 10,000 square-meter lots and follows stringent environmental protection regulations. The rocky and varied topography motivated the project to be developed in a series of boxes that flow between the contours and the surrounding vegetation. The varied layout is linked through a series of textures and independent patios that create an interplay of light and shadow while sheltering the house from the region’s extreme climate.

Designed by WY-TO architects, ‘Contemporary Vernacular’ is a holiday house in the south-east of Corsica, the largest French island in the Mediterranean Sea. This architectural monolith has been developed in harmony with its immediate context, both in the use of materials from the region and for relying on local expertise for the craftsmanship. Its thick walls are made out of stones while all windows and doors use local wood. The concrete floor has been cast using timber planks revealing its genuine pattern.

Knowing that art can have the power to change reality, Archstudio has transformed a decaying pharmaceutical factory in Zibo, China, into the Great Wall Museum of Fine Art, a place dedicated to showcase contemporary works. The design concept is based on the decentralized structure of the previous industrial construction and the character that the enclosed exterior gives to the building, emphasizing the relationship between the internal and external spaces.

Stockholm-based architect Andreas Martin-Löf designed Aspvik House as a weekend retreat for himself on land owned by his family. It sits on a steep hill in Aspvik, a town in the Stockholm archipelago, about a 40-minute drive from the city.
