Interview with Piergiorgio Robino (Studio Nucleo)

Nucleo is a joint project developed by three artists under the direction of Piergiorgio Robino. Founded in Turin in 1997, Nucleo works collaboratively on interdisciplinary projects that bring together contemporary art, design and architecture. “Today,” says Robino, “Nucleo’s goal is to create projects that may be entirely devised and managed in our studio. We are art designers who ask themselves questions, in other words: we are ‘problematic artisans’.”

The Deejay Trio Set the Tone for the Designers’ Paris Menswear Show

Since they burst onto the downtown scene in 2003 with their eponymous weekly party, New York deejays The MisShapes have been embraced as fashion world darlings. Sharing trademark jet-black hair and icy stares, the trio of Geordon Nicol, Leigh Lezark and Greg Krelenstein would sit comfortably on any catwalk––so it’s understandable Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf tapped the group to soundtrack their “Monsieur” fall/winter 2011 presentation.

Groninger Museum Updated

Revitalization Groninger Museum Completed

Since the opening in 1994, a total of 3,732,000 visitors have paid a visit to the Groninger Museum. However, on account of this overwhelming success the building was due for a revitalization. New spaces by Studio Job, Jaime Hayon and Maarten Baas were added to the museum and opened December 18, 2010.

Bucky slept here

Pals Buckminster Fuller and Isamu Noguchi frequented the Roger Smith Hotel on Lexington Avenue at 47th Street in Manhattan and ‘most certainly saw this vaulted relief ceiling in the penthouse. Urban legend has it that this ceiling pattern at least partially inspired Fuller in the design of his famous geodesic dome.

The new Mandarin Oriental Hotel by Patricia Urquiola in Barcelona

In the Sleep Hotel Design Awards in London, we were introduced to the award wining restaurant ‘Blanc’ in the new Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona. Instantly we were drawn to it and craved to present it to our Yatzer readers even as the slides of the interiors were still projecting on the wall.
