In 2014, Spanish creative consultancy Masquespacio focussed on Japanese culture and the origins of Japanese Sushi to create the striking Nozomi Sushi Bar, a new restaurant from José Miguel Herrera and Nuria Morell. This design which reinterprets the classic Japanese sushi bar with a delicate, smart and simple design, offers a cohesive model upon which you embark on an interpretation of both tradition and modern Japanese culture.

”The previous owners’ energy was something spectacular,” remembers a regular at Anahi, La Jeune Rue project’s first restaurant. The iconic Argentinian restaurant located on a non descript Marais backstreet in Paris was created over 20 years ago by sisters Carmina and Pilar until they decided to retire and sell the business to French entrepreneur Cédric Naudon who bought Anahi and 35 other businesses in the area. His aim? To create a design-led village of restaurants, bars and boutiques where the produce is sourced nationally. The Argentinian restaurant is only the first step in the creation of the new neighbourhood that’s actually proving to be more of a leap for the city due to its surprising lack of ostentation.

With hotel conversions in historic sites often ending up being rather soulless, the balance struck between modern-day tastes and needs, as well as history, is just right at the Fontevraud Abbey’s new hotel. Designed by architect duo Jouin Manku, aka Patrick Jouin & Sanjit Manku, the soothing and sleek design leaves room for the historically charged interiors of one of the vastest monastic sites from the Middle Ages, to continue be the focal point of every space.
