フランク･ロイド･ライトによる住宅建築の傑作として知られ、映画「ブレードランナー」や「ブラックレイン」などの映画だけでなく、リッキー・マーティンのミュージックビデオにも使われたエニス・ブラウン邸が1500万ドルで売りに出されている。ライトの孫が所属する非営利団体のThe Ennis House Foundationが30年近く管理所有してきたエニス邸は、1994年の大地震で大きな損害を受けた。すでにその修復に650万ドルが費やされたが、修復を完了させるには更に1000万ドルが必要とされている。経済状況の悪化により、The Ennis House Foundationに修復を継続させることが不可能だという結論から、今回のエニス・ブラウン邸の売却に踏み切った。

Whether or not to remove this white elephant, which has a width of more than 48 inches, had tormented me for weeks. It doesn’t costs money to keep it but it costs space in the kitchen, which was not built for electric/gas appliances…
