Revitalization Groninger Museum Completed
Since the opening in 1994, a total of 3,732,000 visitors have paid a visit to the Groninger Museum. However, on account of this overwhelming success the building was due for a revitalization. New spaces by Studio Job, Jaime Hayon and Maarten Baas were added to the museum and opened December 18, 2010.

Pals Buckminster Fuller and Isamu Noguchi frequented the Roger Smith Hotel on Lexington Avenue at 47th Street in Manhattan and ‘most certainly saw this vaulted relief ceiling in the penthouse. Urban legend has it that this ceiling pattern at least partially inspired Fuller in the design of his famous geodesic dome.

The new Mandarin Oriental Hotel by Patricia Urquiola in Barcelona
In the Sleep Hotel Design Awards in London, we were introduced to the award wining restaurant ‘Blanc’ in the new Mandarin Oriental in Barcelona. Instantly we were drawn to it and craved to present it to our Yatzer readers even as the slides of the interiors were still projecting on the wall.

A monolithic copper-clad cube in the west of Singapore Island engages with its lush surroundings and is a frame for both garden and art.
Our homes are so often palettes upon which we paint our own aesthetic. For this home in Singapore, it is the owners collection of art and a memory of a copper-roofed childhood home that have shaped a brightly-coloured blank canvas.

The first prize of the International Creation of Limoges Porcelain Award was given to the 33-piece suspended sculpture of porcelain, Ceci n’est pas (70 x 100 x 70 cm) by Bertrand Fèvre, invoking the infamous Rene Magritte painting, La trahison des images (1928–29). The artist, playing with materiality, utility, scale, volume, symbology, and perspective, confronts the inherent duality and contradictions of the quotidian, while praising issues of universality, heritage and craftsmanship.
