Maybe you have heard this senpai/kohai thing before. Architect Kengo Kuma was my senpai (and he still is) when I was in junior high school. He was already in the senior high school on the same campus when I entered the school, and in that sense, he should be called “dai” senpai.

As a kohai I cannot say anything disrespectful about his work, and therefore most of what he has done, including the just-renewed Tiffany & Co. in Ginza, are politely ignored here.

I have always wished for something done by my “dai” senpai to be on this blog, so I am delighted to share that a Japanese tea store Jugetsudo Paris designed by Kengo Kuma has recently opened in Saint Germain des Pres, 6th arrondissement, and it looks nice.
