Located in a historical neighborhood in Tempe Arizona, local firm Chen + Suchart Studio have completed the ‘Snosnowski Residence’ comprised of a sandblasted CMU base supporting a cantilevered virendeel truss structure. The lower level contains the individual guest bedrooms and main home forming a private exterior courtyard guarded from the public street. An expanse of 30′ glass doors flanking the living and dining room and kitchen on the main level allow views to the surrounding yard and allow natural light to the interior, opening entirely to extend the interior into the garden. Above, a modular matrix of steel trusses that form glass-clad cubes house the private bedrooms, with opaque metal panels that control privacy and views through designed apertures.
