The bones of a rundown 150-year-old rice warehouse in Shimane Prefecture were carefully extracted and reconstructed 500 miles away in Tokyo’s fshionable Daikanyama district for designer Tokujin Yoshioka’s studio.

In his website, Yoshioka states, “This is not one of those recycle/renovation projects or an expression of extotic Japonisme. After thinking about the values that are lacking in today’s architecture, I came upon this idea of exploring new possibilities of architecture via ‘relocation’.”
